William (Bill) Menkin, 2/3 Teacher Mr. Menkin was a Kindergarten/First grade teacher at Moreland Discovery School for his first five years at the school, graduated to teaching 6th grade and has now returned to teach in the 2/3 classrooms. Winner of the 1998 Intel Innovations in Teaching Award for Santa Clara County, Mr. Menkin has been doing projects with students and teachers using video, multimedia, computers and the Internet for nearly 10 years. In November 2000, he was certified as an Early Childhood Generalist by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In April 2001, he was a consultant for Design Worlds for Learning on its web content design for Apple Computers on digital desktop movie production for K-12 education. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education from Stanford University, and has performed as a clarinetist with many local music ensembles and orchestras over the last thirty years. He is currently playing Bass Clarinet with the Redwood and Nova Vista Symphonies. |
