Jennifer Schutz, 4th Grade Teacher I am so excited to be a part of the EDS teaching staff; what a wonderful place to be! This is my 5th year teaching here, and there’s really nowhere else I’d rather be (except on a beach in Costa Rica, maybe). I love teaching, and it is what I knew I wanted to do since I was young. I grew up here in San Jose and received my teaching credential from Biola University, a small Christian college in southern California. After teaching for my first 2 years, I decided that I wanted an adventure, so a friend and I moved to Honduras and taught in an international school there. I had originally planned on staying for one year, but I ended up loving it and staying for three years. My school, The Discovery School, was similar to EDS with its wonderful kids, wonderful parents, wonderful teachers, wonderful administrators, and wonderful friends. I had so many amazing experiences while living in Honduras. I was able to do a lot of traveling, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, white water rafting, hiking, jumping off waterfalls…. oh yeah, and teaching!J I also learned Spanish while there. Check out their website if you’d like! www.discoveryschool.edu.hn So, I made it back to the United States and was blessed to be hired at EDS. I’ve taught 2/3, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. I am happy to be back at 4th grade again this year with my amazing 32 students. When I’m not teaching (or planning and grading and prepping) I like to spend time with friends and family, as well as do adventurous activities (hiking, rock climbing, SCUBA diving, skiing, etc). I’m also fairly involved in my church (WestGate Church) where I am on the Compassion Board and a part of Community Groups. I’m definitely looking forward to another great year here at EDS! Stop by room 11 and say “HI” some time.
