Janice Gorman, K/1 Teacher Marking her ninth year with Moreland School District this year Janice Gorman joins the EDS team. She brings her enthusiasm for teaching early literacy and more than nineteen years of experience in primary grades and pre-school to the K/1 team. Janice is a native Californian, and a life long resident of Santa Clara County. A graduate of San Jose State University, Janice earned her teaching credential in 1999 for National University, La Jolla, California. An advocate for character education she attended the Josephson Institute and was trained as a Character Counts (sm) Coach in 2001. In recent years, Janice incorporated these ideals as a basis for facilitating Moreland’s involvement in the Cornerstone Project at Anderson School by creating leadership opportunities for students. Janice and her husband Pat raised three children in our West San Jose community. Both she and her husband contributed as volunteers in Campbell Bobby Sox, and Moreland Little League and to the Campbell Union School District. Janice holds high regard for the level of parent participation for which EDS is renowned. Looking forward to her new assignment she fondly remembers the words of advice from a neighbor as her first child entered grade school so many years ago, ” Don’t send your child to school…go with them.” |
