Turnbull, RSP Teacher I was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. Having a father in the Marine Corps, I grew up in Michigan, Virginia, and in Southern California. My love for God and people, and my desire to be of aid to those less fortunate or in crises, lead me down many wonderful paths after High School. I was formally trained and commissioned by The Salvation Army for social work, business administration, and church administration. As co-administrator of the organization in Laramie and Cheyenne, Wyoming, I had the privilege of aiding the homeless, counseling, working in the office, leading women’s and children’s groups, fundraising, and working with our advisory board and other community volunteers. I began my 19 year journey with the Moreland School District while locating to San Jose and having children entering elementary school. It’s been my sheer joy to have spent 5 years at Payne School as an Instructional Aide and Noon Supervisor, 10 years at Easterbrook School as a Special Education aide, and 4 years at Country Lane School as an aide and School Secretary. In addition to working with our extraordinary staff and parents, my biggest delight is looking into the eyes of our children, being a part of their educational and social experience, and helping to preserve the security, safety, and innocence that they deserve. My husband David and I have six children who live away from home; ranging from ages 17-25. We also have two delightful granddaughters who are 3 and 5. One of the most gratifying things we do together is visit City Team Rescue Mission where we sing with the men and bring messages of encouragement and hope. In my spare time I love to count my blessings, sing, read, work on the computer, and enjoy the outdoors. Some day I hope to accomplish my wildest dream which is to write a book or two for children. |
