Mrs. Uenaka was raised and attended schools in Santa Clara County. She earned a B.S. in Child Development from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a Master's degree in Education from Santa Clara University. She taught special education for 18 years before joining the Discovery staff in 1997.

She writes, "My husband and I have two wonderful daughters. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, traveling, walking and spending time with my family. I am amazed by the many opportunities for students, staff and parents at EDS. Each classroom has so many exciting activities to match the interests and needs of all children. I enjoy being part of a community dedicated to doing what is best for children."
